Lars Humer 

Head Coach

‘Olympic & Paralympic Coach and Leader’

Lars offers a diverse and exciting range of coaching and leadership skills.  He Has taught and coached at all levels, including developing elite age and youth swimmers and coaching seniors to Olympic finals, Paralympic medals and many international podium places.

Lars returns home from Ireland where he was the Head Coach at the Irish Performance Centre (Limerick).  Prior to this, he spent 14 years working for British swimming in elite coaching positions.  Roles at British Swimming Performance Centres and as National Head Coach for British Para swimming.  Team Great Britain Coach at the London Olympic Games and Great Britain Head Coach at two Paralympic Games.

Lars has an impressive summary of coaching success with many of his athletes finishing on the podium at international meets (World Championships, World Cup, European Champs, Mare Nostrum Tours and Commonwealth Games).    Prior to heading overseas Lars held Coaching positions for Surf Lifesaving New Zealand Development.

Kurt Crossland
Associate Coach

Kurt first represented Otago as a 10 year old and not long after claimed his first National Age Group medal, continuing to rise through the ranks until the age of 17 claiming National Open medals for the next ten years and breaking many Otago records over this time.  Kurt holds a World Masters Record.  Kurt represented New Zealand on New Zealand Teams to Australia and Oceania, winning an Oceania Gold and 4 Oceania Silver Medals.   

Kurt has gained experience as a volunteer coach at all levels of competitive Swimming, has worked as a swim instructor for the Jill Clarkes Swim School and with Central Otago Council at Alexandra’s Aquatic Centre.  Kurt is also a volunteer coach and official for the St Clair Surf Lifesaving Club.

Kurt Holds the NZ Swim teacher award, Volunteer Surf Lifeguard Award and National Pool Lifeguard Award.  

 

Cameron Tang 
Associate Coach

Cameron’s was a competitive swimmer winning numerous Singapore National Age Group titles.  As a member of the Singapore Centre of Excellence National Squad Cameron represented Singapore at the Australian, South East Asian and the Asian Age group Championships winning several South East Asian medals and a gold and Silver at Queensland State Champs in 2005.

Cameron has coached in a variety of settings from private stoke correction lessons, children and adult group learn to swim classes,  competitive squads, triathletes and Masters.   Cameron is interested in all levels of swimming particularly at high performance level, having gained experience coaching the Platinum (Top squad) at Tanglin Trust International School (Singapore).

Cameron has the Austswim Swimming and water safety Certificate and the Fina Certified Competitive Swimming Coach level 2.
